Lubrication for metal parts stamping press is very important. Operator shall inspect the lubrication system before run the press every day. All world group brand presses have pulse monitor for lubrication system. Any abnormal, the system will alarm and stop the press.
This article is to introduce the basic causes of lubricant failue of press machines.
A precision punch press uses an electric grease pump to inject lubricating grease into the grease distributor, which diverts the grease to each lubrication point at the designed flow rate to lubricate the kinematic pairs. During the grease pumping process, the spool on the distributor swings, and the micro switch on it triggers a pulse signal to the PLC control system. If the signal is normal within the specified time, the PLC operates normally; if the signal is abnormal, an alarm will be triggered. So what are the causes of abnormal lubrication in precision punch presses?
1. During commissioning, the wiring of the grease pump motor is reversed, and the motor rotates in the reverse direction, failing to deliver oil.
2. The lubricating oil level is too low for the oil suction port to draw oil, so it is necessary to refuel in time to the upper limit position.
3. Air trapped in the lubricating oil prevents the oil pressure from building up. The air in the oil needs to be vented, and there is a vent button or screw plug on the oil pump.
4. Foreign matter in the oil returning to the oil tank clogs the filter screen at the oil suction port, making oil suction impossible. It is required to remove the filter screen for cleaning and replace with new oil.
5. Individual lubrication points are blocked. Generally, precision punch presses use progressive distributors for oil distribution. A blocked lubrication point will cause the entire oil circuit to be unobstructed. It is necessary to inspect the oil circuit and each lubrication point, and the fault can be resolved by cleaning after locating the failure point. It is recommended to seek help from a professional maintenance technician.
